Station 12, San Luis Obispo Headquarters

Located in San Luis Obispo, Station 12 is the headquarters station for CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire Department. Station 12 is home to fire administration, fire prevention, law enforcement, training, emergency medical administration, emergency command center, and Station 12 fire operations. Station 12 is located directly across from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo along Highway 1. 

Station 12 is staffed daily with a minimum of one fire Captain and one Firefighter I. During peak fire season, Station 12 responds to emergencies with a minimum of four on Engine 3484. In addition to the on-duty crew, Station 12 has a 15 member Paid-Call-Firefighter program, available daily via radio pager. Company 12 is also responsible for operating and staffing Engine 12, when needed. 

 

Station 12 has multiple substantial target hazards including Bishop’s Peak recreation area, Highway 101 Cuesta Grade, Cuesta College, Camp San Luis Obispo, and California Men’s Colony. In addition, Station 12 is included in an Automatic Aid agreement between the City of San Luis Obispo and CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County. Under this agreement, Station 12 responds to all structural and vegetation fires as a part of the first alarm throughout the western half of the City of San Luis Obispo.
