Pismo Beach is a vibrant, full-service oceanfront community of approximately 8,500 residents located in San Luis Obispo County, ideally situated midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Renowned for its scenic coastline and welcoming atmosphere, the city’s economy is driven primarily by tourism, supported by a thriving collection of hotels, restaurants, and visitor-serving businesses. The City of Pismo Beach Fire Department, operating through a cooperative fire protection agreement with CAL FIRE, is committed to providing high-quality emergency and public safety services to the community. The department is staffed by a dedicated team that includes a Battalion Chief, three Fire Captains, a Fire Inspector, six Fire Apparatus Engineers, and an Administrative Assistant. In addition, the department employs 20 seasonal lifeguards certified by the United States Lifeguard Association and operates a Junior Lifeguard Program that promotes water safety, leadership, and community engagement among local youth.
